Reading is your quick way to success
Reading is your cheating path to success.
Many of us aren’t used to reading. My friends and family — I rarely see them touch books or read books. This actually motivates me to read a book because I’m curious. I’m curious why reading is not favorable or hard.
That’s why I started reading books, and it actually changed my life.
I sometimes went to a cafe and bought a coffee to write and then read some books afterwards. In my country, I rarely see people read books or even bring a book in a cafe. Usually I see them use their phones scrolling on social media. It’s actually fine, but reading actually could help us in many ways.
If we don’t use books or even read, we might fall into social media scrolling and other bad influences inside of it.
Social media vs Reading
Negativity on social media is so easy to find.
Without a proper filter, we might learn false lessons and end up understanding the wrong things.
Different from books, it actually gives you time to realize and understand things. It gives you time to really digest what you read. There’s only words inside books, and some pictures too sometimes. But all of those give us time to pick and choose which one we want to understand.
Books contain a lot of information.
When I read the same book as you, I will understand it differently. We will understand the same concept, but how we understand and look at it is different. That’s why books are actually the doors to knowledge. It expands our knowledge differently.
That’s why reading is your cheating path to success.
It helps you avoid mistakes.
There’s a ton of lessons from the author that have been written inside of a
book.
Even other people’s mistakes and solutions to them are given inside a book. This could help you find solutions to your own problems too. You can learn from people’s experiences and then use them for your own solutions.
This leads us to the second benefit of reading.
It helps you find solutions.
I remember when I didn’t see any solution at all to my problem.
I don’t know how to market my product, I don’t know how to write effectively, and I don’t know how to deal with my addiction. Then, I read books, which actually gave me a proper solution, rather than short-form videos, which didn’t give a full explanation.
That’s why books are great for finding solutions.
But there’s more.
It helps you open up new perspectives.
Do you ever feel that reading books actually gives you a new perspective?
I’ve read Ego Is the Enemy by Ryan Holiday. It gives me a new perspective on how ego is actually dangerous if we don’t control or use it correctly. It gives me new knowledge and helps me use my ego effectively in the future.
Then, from those books, I learn from other people’s experiences too. I don’t have to suffer from my own ego to learn something.
I can just read books, which leads me to the next benefit of reading.
It helps you learn from the experiences of other people.
This helps you know what comes ahead.
We never know the future, but we can learn from other people’s experiences. We can learn from someone who has already experienced problems directly and fixed them. We don’t have to experience it again.
We can learn from someone else’s experiences and take the path to avoid those problems or mistakes.
How to build reading habit with ease
It’s okay if you aren’t used to reading.
You can start small by reading for one sentence and then gradually increase the sentences or turn into 5 minutes of reading in the next week. In The Mastery of Reading, I’ve explained more about this and made a template about it too. It will be released next week.
Just start the first step and consistently win every day with reading.
The more you read, the more you understand. The more you understand, the more you implement.
This could lead you to take action and achieve success rapidly, like cheating.
